ORLA’s revolutionized, online course is approved by the OLCC and is valid STATEWIDE. Note our course fee does not include your permit application or testing fee, which is required separately by the OLCC. This initial course covers important curriculum requirements from the OLCC including: the effects of alcohol on the body and behavior, interaction of alcohol with other drugs, Oregon’s alcohol sale and service laws, checking ID, visible signs of intoxication, drunk driving laws, intervention techniques for dealing with intoxicated and underage customers, and responsible advertising, marketing, and management procedures. A handbook (as adopted from the OLCC) is available for your review anytime during the course and can be printed for your reference. According to Oregon law, anyone who participates in any manner in mixing, selling or serving alcohol for drinking on the premises and anyone who manages these people, must have a valid liquor license or service permit issued by the OLCC. This course provides a convenient and practical way to get the training required for certification. Once you complete the training and pass the practice test, your successful course completion is automatically submitted to the OLCC, where you will take the test and pay the applicable fees. If you pass, you may download and print your OLCC permit in the OLCC portal, and it will valid statewide for 5 years. When the server gets their approval email for their 5-year permit, the valid permit should be attached. The server can also log into the OLCC portal and download the valid permit as well. This course requires you to pay with a credit card (or company authorization code). Your progress will be saved on the specific computer on which you start the actual course. You will need to receive a score of 70% or higher to pass the final exam. Prepaid cards will not work with our processor. We are unable to accept checks for payment. No refunds.-->

About the Course

This OLCC-approved online training, provided by the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (ORLA), fulfills state requirements for alcohol servers seeking a service permit.
Valid statewide, the course covers:

Who Needs This Permit?

Oregon law requires a valid OLCC service permit for anyone who:
  • Mixes, sells, or serves alcohol for on-premises consumption.
  • Supervises staff who handle alcohol.

Certification Process

  1. Complete Training – Pass the course and practice test.
  2. Automatic Submission – Your completion is sent to the OLCC.
  3. Take the OLCC Test – Pay applicable fees and pass the final exam (70% or higher required).
  4. Receive Your Permit – Download/print your 5-year, statewide permit from the OLCC Portal upon approval (emailed or accessed via login).
