About the Course

This OLCC-approved online training, provided by the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (ORLA), fulfills state requirements for alcohol servers seeking a service permit.
Valid statewide, the course covers:

  • Effects of alcohol on the body and behavior
  • Interaction of alcohol with other drugs
  • Oregon’s alcohol sales/service laws (ID checks, intoxication signs, drunk driving laws)
  • Intervention techniques for intoxicated/underage patrons
  • Responsible advertising and management practices
Note: Course fee does not include the OLCC’s separate permit application/testing fee.

Who Needs This Permit?

Oregon law requires a valid OLCC service permit for anyone who:
  • Mixes, sells, or serves alcohol for on-premises consumption.
  • Supervises staff who handle alcohol.

Certification Process

  1. Complete Training – Pass the course and practice test.
  2. Automatic Submission – Your completion is sent to the OLCC.
  3. Take the OLCC Test – Pay applicable fees and pass the final exam (70% or higher required).
  4. Receive Your Permit – Download/print your 5-year, statewide permit from the OLCC Portal upon approval (emailed or accessed via login).

Payment & Policies

  • Accepted Payment: Credit card or company authorization code (prepaid cards/checks not accepted).
  • Progress Saved: Only on the device used to start the course.
  • No Refunds – All sales final.
